Control Cable

The first step to replace the shift cable demands wheel chocking along with activated parking brake. Remove both parts of the floor console extension panel located on the left side. Unconnect the shift cable terminal from shift lever pin before releasing shift cable retainer to remove cable from transmission control lever base. You should disconnect terminal from the transmission manual shift lever pin after removing the retainer from the cable. After pressing the cable locking tabs to release it from the cable bracket you should remove the cable from the vehicle through the grommet which is installed to the cowl panel. Begin new cable installation by placing it on the vehicle while also installing the grommet to the cowl panel. Push the cable into the cable bracket and install the retainer onto its Hooks. Secure the manual shift lever pin with the terminal while fully installing the cable to the transmission control lever base through proper placement of the retainer across the cable. First reposition the floor console left extension panel while connecting the terminal to the shift lever pin. Completion of the task requires cable adjustment for the shift cable while removing the parking brake.

Starting the replacement of the Shift Cable requires applying the parking brake and wheel chocking. Start by taking out the floor console left extension panel followed by removing the shift cable terminal from connecting with shift lever pin. The technician must first detach the cable retainer attached to the shift lever then take the cable out from the transmission control lever base. You must separate the shift cable terminal from its position at the manual shift lever pin then remove the cable retainer. The locking tabs must be pushed inward to disengage the cable from the cable bracket so that you can pull out the grommet from the cowl panel before removing the cable. The first step for installation involves fitting the new cable to both the vehicle body and the grommet on the cowl panel. Fitting the cable begins with attaching it to the cable bracket and then putting the retainer on the cable. Connect the terminal to manual shift lever pin through installation of the cable on the transmission control lever base by securing the retainer in place. Put the terminal onto the shift lever pin and replace the floor console left extension panel. Finish the installation by readjusting the shift cable and undo the parking brake.

Before starting the replacement of the Shift Cable users need to use the parking brake while wheel chocking. Remove the floor console left extension panel from its positioning. Secure the cable against the transmission control lever base while ensuring complete retention of the retainer, then fasten terminal to the shift lever pin. The parking brake needs to be released only after you adjust the automatic transmission shift cable and reinstall the floor console left extension panel.

Install the floor console left extension panel followed by adjustment of automatic transmission shift cable before unlocking the parking brake.
