Throttle Cable

Starting the Throttle Cable replacement requires removal of the left closeout/insulator panel. First remove the Throttle Cable from the accelerator pedal lever before utilizing the Throttle Cable cover tangs to push through the bulkhead. The process begins with cable removal from both the retaining clip and from the right slot positioned above the washer bottle. Separate the Throttle Cable ends by unhooking them from the Throttle Body lever and from the Throttle Cable bracket. Secure all flexible components properly to avoid interference when they are located less than 50 mm (2 in) from moving components. Use the bulkhead to install the Throttle Cable before putting the snap retainer through the bulkhead. The accelerator pedal lever has an open slot which the installer must insert the Throttle Cable until the cable end correctly snaps into place and establishes full contact with the accelerator control pedal lever. After inserting the dash panel insulator retainer into the Throttle Cable it must be pushed over the cable lever end fitting until it secures on the cable dash fitting flange while fitting tightly against the dash mat. Operation of the accelerator pedal should ensure a smooth throttle movement between entire throttle ranges as well as proper carpet positioning under the pedal. First double-check that the cable hook sits underneath the Throttle Body lever. After that install the Throttle Body lever segment of the Throttle Cable followed by running the cable to the bracket then to the slot on top of the washer bottle then secure it with the retaining clip. After reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel as the final step.

Verify that the throttle operates freely between full closed and wide open positions by operating the accelerator pedal, and check for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.

Detach the accelerator control cable from the accelerator pedal lever, then squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push the accelerator cable through the bulkhead.

Insert the accelerator control cable through the slot in the accelerator pedal lever, ensuring the cable end fitting snaps into position and fits flush against the accelerator control pedal lever.
