The Automatic Transmission Shift Indicator replacement process starts by removing the shift control knob and shift control trim plate through a combination of lifting the rear and pulling in a rearward direction to extract the front retaining tabs. You need to detach electrical connectors from the trim plate and separate the Center Console assembly from its mounting points. You can remove the shift indicator lamp sockets by rotating them one quarter turn then carefully unwedge the retaining tabs to raise the back of the indicator from its position. Release the front retaining tabs of the shift indicator by lifting its front edge and pull out the indicator from the shift control assembly. Put the shift indicator over the shift control shaft while ensuring the front retaining tabs match with the assembly's holes before pressing down for engagement. Set the rear retaining tabs directly beside the assembly sides as you push down on the rear section of the shift indicator. You should install the shift indicator lamp sockets (1 and 2) by turning them a quarter rotation to effectively secure them in place before reinstalling the Center Console assembly. The installation procedure starts with inserting the front retaining tabs of shift control trim plate into the console followed by pressing down on its rear side which activates the retaining tabs allowing you to finish with the shift control knob.

The first step to replace the shift indicator involves disassembling the shift control knob and shift control trim plate through lifting the rear section followed by pulling it backward until the front retaining tabs disengage. The electrical connectors need detachment from the trim plate before removal of the Center Console assembly. To remove the shift indicator lamp sockets (1 and 2) you must rotate them one quarter turn before carefully spreading the retaining tabs to lift the back of the shift indicator past them. Release the front retaining tabs on the shift indicator by lifting its front edge before the shift indicator can be removed from the shift control assembly. The installation of the shift indicator starts by lowering it over the shift control shaft until front retaining tabs can go through their corresponding holes in the assembly. Then press down to lock them into place. Press down gently on both retaining tabs while oppositionally aligning them with the assembly sides. Position and secure both shift indicator lamp sockets (1 and 2) by turning them a quarter round to prevent loose attachment. Afterwards reinstall the Center Console assembly. After setting the front retaining tabs of the shift control trim plate into the console you should press down on the rear to secure the rear retaining tabs and then add the shift control knob.
