    Q:
How to Remove and Replace a Liftgate Emblem on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
When working on Buick liftgate emblems/nameplates begin by covering the body panel with tape. Then establish alignment marks for installation with tape. Use a Heat Gun (J 25070) to apply heat by moving it in circles over the emblem/nameplate for 30 seconds at a distance of 152 mm (6 in) from the surface. You should remove the emblem/nameplate from the surface by using a flat plastic tool. To remove adhesives from body and plastic panels professionals can use a 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or a lint-free cloth treated with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naphtha or a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water at 50:50 concentration ratio. Apply the same solution to clean the area then let it dry completely. Apply tape to mark the location if no existing marks are present. Measure the TERRAZA emblem/nameplate placement starting from the liftgate's left side at 31mm (1.30in) and bottom edge at 209 mm (8.23in). The CXL emblem/nameplate should be placed with dimension (c) at 31 mm (1.30 in) right from the liftgate edge and dimension (d) at 209 mm (8.23 in) down from the liftgate bottom. The right edge of the VERSATRAK emblem/nameplate measures 37 mm (1.46 in) from the liftgate while its bottom edge spans 53 mm (2.09 in) from the liftgate. Position the Buick emblem at the exact center point above the liftgate license plate pocket. Utilize Heat Gun (J 25070) to raise the mounting surface temperature to 27-41°C (80-105°F) before mounting the emblem/nameplate. The final product must achieve a temperature level of 29-32°C (85-90°F). After removing the protecting film from the adhesive backing users must line up the emblem/nameplate according to the location marks while applying firm pressure until it sticks to the mounting surface. Press evenly across the emblem/nameplate to maintain uniform sticking then remove the protective tape from the body panel.
