Power Steering Pump

The initial step to replace the Power Steering Pump includes unhinging the air cleaner housing by removing both housing bolts while loose the clamp. The pump Drive Belt detachment from the pulley requires adjustment of the auto-tensioner. Begin by unfastening the Power Steering Pump pulley bolt and pulley before you remove the power steering fluid through pressure line and supply line detachment from the pump. The pump assembly requires removal after steering pump retaining bolts have been unscrewed. After mounting the pump with steering pump retaining bolts users must tighten them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Power Steering Pump to both pressure and supply lines and follow with the installation of the Power Steering Pump pulley while tightening it to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The pump Drive Belt installation requires the auto-tensioner to secure it onto the pulley before reinstalling the air cleaner housing with its housing bolts and clamp tightened to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Apply gm spec. No. 9985010 certified power steering fluid or its equivalent versions for new fluid additions and complete fluid replacements; the gm dealership provides fluids specially designed for cold climate conditions. Derailment from using the correct power steering fluid will produce hose damage and seal ruptures as well as fluid leakages that result in pump dysfunction. New fluid enters the pump for refilling and the system requires air bleeding afterwards before leak inspection with necessary corrections.

Reinstall the A/C compressor bracket onto the vehicle.

Remove the air cleaner housing by taking out the housing bolts and loosening the clamp.
