Oldsmobile manufactured the Custom Cruiser as its first C-body platform full-size station wagon from 1971 to 1992. The first-generation Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser (1971–1976) utilized a 127-inch board and rear-wheel drive with a coil-spring live rear axle enabling enhanced ride and loading capacity. The Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser received power from a large 455 cubic-inch Rocket V8 engine which worked with a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission. A platform transition to GM's B-body platform during 1977 scaled down the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser's size and improved its fuel economy together with its manageability. Different engine options combined a 350 ci V8 engine with an available 403 ci V8 engine which provided up to 185 horsepower based on specific production year requirements. Early models equipped with power-operated twin-piece tailgates and their manual alternatives brought practicality and distinctive design to owners. Genuine OEM parts provide owners with the optimal options for preserving both the performance and structural reliability of the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser because they adhere to factory specifications.
