2000 Buick Park Avenue Fan Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the radiator cooling fan motor on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Service of the Radiator cooling Fan Motor requires draining the cooling system first. Start by taking off front headlamps and proceed with hood latch support before upper Radiator seal and upper Radiator brackets. You should disconnect three components including the inlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator and the wiring harness electrical connector from the motor and fan bracket and the transmission oil cooler line clip from the lower rail. The service of Radiator cooling Fan Motor starts by removing the mounting bolts for the fan while also disconnecting the coolant overflow tube from the fan assembly. Raise the Radiator assembly off its lower mounting points then shift it towards the front portion of the vehicle from the left side. Detach the fans from their lower mounting tabs while elevating the left side of the component. Ensure caution when removing the left-hand thread fan blade retaining nut because trying to treat it as a right-hand thread component risks damaging the motor threads. A thorough motor extraction requires detaching the fan component from shaft and motor screws to free up the motor itself from shroud structures. Attach the motor to the shroud followed by securing it with the motor retaining screws before tightening electric cooling Fan Motor mounting bolts to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). After placing the fan onto the motor shaft you must tighten its fan retaining nut to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The fan assembly must be put into the lower Radiator holding tabs before installing electric cooling fan mounting bolts with a torque of 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Reinstall the Radiator fan system on the lower mounts before securing the cooling reservoir tube to fan shroud clips when also tightening the transmission oil cooler line clip bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Fasten all electrical connectors for the wiring harness to the fan motors then attach the inlet Radiator Hose to the Radiator before tightening upper hooks and their corresponding bolts up to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Installation of the upper Radiator seal and the hood latch support and front headlamps must be completed before you fill the cooling system.
