2003 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair spark plugs on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The first step for Spark Plug repair requires users to turn the Ignition Switch off then remove the fuel injector sight shield. Write down the Spark Plug wire positioning before starting the disassembly process. Extending the Spark Plug boot removal tool (J 38491) will enable you to lift the heat shield while you twist the Spark Plug boot by 1/2 turn. First remove the engine Spark Plug Wires before extracting the spark plugs from their installation points. First measure the new Spark Plug gap before installation then adjust the gap according to manufacturer specifications. The reinstallation torque should be set at 15 n.m (11 lb ft) for new or used spark plugs before inserting them into the engine of a used Cylinder Head that experienced a normal engine thermal cycle. The proper torque setting for Spark Plug installation in new cylinder heads without standard engine heating experiences should use 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Termination of the plug wire connection to the spark plugs should then be followed by the reinstallation of the fuel injector sight shield.
