2005 GMC Safari Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on 2005 GMC Safari?
A: Begin the replacement of the evap canister purge solenoid valve by removing the engine cover and the engine wiring harness bracket from their respective stud. Detach the evaporative emissions canister purge pipe followed by removing the evap canister purge valve harness connector. The first step involves removing the two evap canister purge valve mounting nuts which allows you to pull out the valve from its position within the Intake Manifold. Secure the evap canister purge valve onto the Intake Manifold by using the mounting nuts which require a torque of 12 n.m (106 lb in). Finally, reinstall the evap canister purge valve harness connector and evaporative emissions canister purge pipe. The engine wiring harness bracket receives the stud to which you must tighten its bracket nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Last step: install the engine cover.
