  A: The first thing to do to remove the valve lifters is the removal of the Cylinder Head and gasket accompanied by the guide bolt of the valve lifter bolt. Next, remove the valve lifters and guide, being careful to note that some valve lifters may stay in position because of gum and varnish deposits; use valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) or its equivalent if necessary. Once the valve lifters are taken out from the guide, arrange or identify the parts for correct replacement. Remove the valve lifters and clean or inspect them prior to the installation process. When curt's valve lifters are reused, they should be fitted at their original positions. Lubricate the valve lifters and engine block valve lifter bores with clean engine oil and then insert them into the lifter guides so that they're lined up with (the flat place on the top of) the lifter is lined up with (the flat place in) the lifter guide bore and push the lifter firmly into the guide bore. Mount the valve lifters and guide onto the engine block and mount the valve lifter guide bolt and tighten it to 12 nm 106 inch lbs. Finally, fix the Cylinder Head and gasket.
