• Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: As an alternative to the Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor, you should first disable the SIR system. Disconnect the connector position assurance (CPA) (1, 6) from the wiring harness connector to the inflatable restraint front end sensor (3, 4) and remove the wiring harness connector (2, 5) from the front end sensor (3, 4). As can be seen, the only fastener for attaching the front end sensor has left-hand threads (8,9). loosing this fastener in the upper tie bar and thereafter removing front end sensor (3,4) from the upper tie bar. Prior to the installation, clean the mounting surface for any dirt, grease or impurity. Mount the sensor (3, 4) horizontally on mounting surface with the help of arrow on sensor facing the frontside of vehicle. Mount the (8,9) mounting fasteners and tighten the fastener to 9N.m (80 lb in). Connect the harness wiring connector (2,5) with the front end sensor (3,4) and fit the CPA (1,6) in the wiring harness connector on the front end sensor. Finally, enable the SIR system.
