The first step to replace heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for bank 1 sensor 1 requires vehicle stabilization in a secure position. Unplug the engine wiring harness electrical connection at the ho2s connector then remove its housing from the harness clip. Remove the ho2s from its position on the Exhaust Manifold. Install the ho2s by applying anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or comparable substances to the threads if using a recycled sensor. The ho2s utilizes a special anti-seize containing liquid graphite and glass beads to simplify sensor removal. Apply 42 nm (31 lb ft) of torque while reinstalling the ho2s onto the Exhaust Manifold. Attach the engine wiring harness electrical connector to its ho2s electrical connector. Also fasten the ho2s electrical connector retainer to the engine wiring harness clip. Finally, lower the vehicle.
