• Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2010 GMC Acadia?

  A: To replace engine front cover, remove frame from body along with engine and transmission, as on engine replacement remove. Then, remove the Intake Manifold, camshaft covers and water outlet housing assembly, the drive belt tensioner, the Water Pump Pulley, power steering pump, the crankshaft balancer, and the camshaft position sensors. Also, take off the actuator solenoid valves for the camshaft position from the front cover and generator. It should be noted that 22 m8 bolts and 3 optional m12 bolts need to be removed before the front cover can be disassembled from the engine block. After displacing the appliance of the engine front cover install the fresh front covers then the originator, camshaft position actuator solenoid valves, camshaft position sensors, crankshaft balancer, power steering pump, water pump pulley, water outlet housing assembly, drive belt tensioner, camshaft covers, intake manifold, and finally reinstate the frame with the engine and the transmission, keeping a complacency for engine loading steps. Use the following special tools: en 46109 (Guide Pin Set), en-48383 (Camshaft Retaining Tools), and en-48589 (Crankshaft Rotational Socket).
