How to Change the Shift Knob on a Buick Enclave?

First users must engage the parking brake and remove the floor console left extension panel to access the Shift Knob on the Enclave. Disconnect the transmission tap up/tap down switch electrical connector then position the key at RUN mode without engine startup. Use a small flat-bladed tool to separate the trim ring from the shift knob by inserting it between the pieces with downward pressure. This step reveals the shift knob retaining screw which will drop down approximately 13.0 mm (0.5 in). You can disconnect the shift control knob screw to guide the transmission tap up/tap down switch electrical harness and connector past the shift control indicator during the shift control knob removal from the shift control lever. Use GM lubricant part number 88861426 (Canadian equivalent 88861442) at the shift control lever tip before installing the shift control knob onto the lever while you guide the electrical wiring into position. Fasten the control knob screw together with a torque of 4 Nm (35 lb in). The trend ring of the shift control knob releases when you pull it until it produces an audible click to show full attachment of the shift knob. Use the PARK position on the shift control lever while turning the key to off so you can reattach the electrical connector of the transmission tap up/tap down switch. Adjust the shift control knob for all gear ranges through inspection while installing the floor console left panel extension and releasing the parking brake.
