Chevrolet K3500 Fuel Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the fuel pump module on Chevrolet K3500?
A: The necessary equipment for replacing the Fuel Tank pump module consists of fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) and fuel sender lock nut wrench (J 39765). The procedure starts with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable together with fuel system pressure relief. You must drain all fuel from the tank before removing it using proper instructions for your car type. Move on to remove the fuel sender assembly while recording the original position of the fuel strainer. Use one hand to support the fuel sender assembly while using your other hand to pull out the strainer from its position; throw away the strainer following the examination process. Look for contamination on the strainer before replacing it with a new one while carrying out proper Fuel Tank cleaning procedures. Cut the wire leading to the Fuel Pump while also removing the retaining clip on the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector before removing the foil level sensor electrical connector from underneath the fuel sender cover. The retention clip of the Fuel Level Sensor needs removal before compressing the locking tangs to extract the sensor. Disconnect the Fuel Pressure Sensor device. First install the Fuel Pressure Sensor followed by the Fuel Level Sensor and then install the sensor retaining clip. Use the electrical connector to connect with the Fuel Level Sensor then fasten it with the electrical connector retaining clip. Install the Fuel Pump electrical connector after disconnecting it. Follow the noted position from disassembly when installing a new fuel strainer by placing it toward the bottom of the fuel sender and ensuring complete seating. A proper replacement procedure should be followed to install both the fuel sender assembly and the Fuel Tank. Rinse the Fuel Tank then mount the fuel filler cap. Rejoin the negative Battery Cable as the last step. A leak inspection should be done by turning the ignition switch on for 2 seconds followed by a 10-second off period before another on cycle to detect any fuel leaks.
