  Q: How to replace the right side rear parking brake cable on Chevrolet Traverse?

  A: The procedure to change the right side parking brake rear cable starts with releasing the park brake then safely elevating the vehicle. Change the park brake equalizer locknut as it is set by loosening the nut but then disconnect the front park brake cable from the right park brake cable. The J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool enables cable conduit locking tab compression to free up the park brake cable from the equalizer. To begin removal disconnect the park brake cable eyelet from the park brake actuator by removing the two bolts securing the bracket which rests above the rear suspension module crossmember. Use the J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool to compress the locking tabs on the cable conduit before pulling the park brake cable conduit towards the front direction. Then remove the park brake cable from the cable bracket by pulling it through the cable guides for removal. To install position the park brake cable on the rear suspension module then connect the eyelet to the park brake actuator. Install and position the park brake cable to the cable bracket by stretching the spring while making sure the locking tabs on the cable conduit are fully inserted. Secure the two bolts securing the park brake cable bracket and torque them to 10 Nm (89 lb in). The park brake cable guides receive the install first before mounting to the equalizer while the front park brake cable connects to the right park brake cable. The park brake equalizer requires installation of the park brake cable which must have all cable conduit locking tabs engaged. Adjust the park brake after loosely placing its equalizer locknut.
