GMC Safari Fuel Pump Strainer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Fuel Pump Strainer on GMC Safari?
A: The procedure for Fuel Pump Strainer maintenance requires fuel pressure gauge (J3473O-1A) and fuel sender lock nut wrench (J39765) as essential tools. The first step is disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by releasing fuel system pressure. The Fuel Tank draining procedure must be completed before extracting both the Fuel Tank and fuel sender assembly. Grasp the strainer of the fuel sender assembly using both hands to remove it from the fuel sender while maintaining support for the entire sender assembly with one hand. The technician must discard the strainer after examinations before installing a new strainer while cleaning the Fuel Tank when required. Install a new fuel strainer at the same spot where observations were made initially by ensuring its complete bottom seating within the fuel sender. Before continuing install the fuel sender assembly along with the Fuel Tank while filling the Fuel Tank with new fuel before installing its filler cap. To conclude reconnect the negative Battery Cable and execute a leak inspection through the Ignition Switch on for 2 seconds followed by off for 10 seconds then back to on status to identify any fuel leakage.
