The procedure to change the engine coolant fan upper shroud requires removing the coolant recovery reservoir followed by the specific air cleaner assembly for 4.3l, 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l, 6.2l, and 7.0l engines and then disconnecting the air cleaner outlet resonator or air cleaner resonator outlet duct when necessary. It is necessary to eliminate the air cleaner outlet resonator or air cleaner resonator outlet duct based on the specific engine design. Engine type 4.3l requires disconnection of the air conditioning (A/C) suction hose yet engine type 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l need radiator inlet hose removal. Begin by removing the transmission oil lever indicator before disconnecting the
Battery Cable along with the maf sensor wire from the Fan Shroud clips. First remove the Fan Shroud bolts followed by taking out the Fan Shroud. Place the Fan Shroud properly before fastening all bolts to 6 nm (53 lb in) torque specification then put back the transmission oil lever indicator along with maf sensor wire and Battery Cable. The installation process requires installing the suction hose of the a/c system for engines with a 4.3l displacement or the radiator inlet hose for engines of 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l displacement. To complete the installation process you should put back the air cleaner outlet resonator or duct before installing the air cleaner assembly and conclude by fastening the coolant recovery reservoir.
