Begin by detaching the rear bumper fascia before starting the replacement of the rear object sensor. Upcoming tasks involve disconnecting the electrical connector from the rear object sensor followed by removing the sensor through the lifting of its housing locking tabs. The new sensor installation requires avoiding paint refinishing of previously painted sensors because too much paint will deactivate the sensor. Insert a paint thickness gauge for non-ferrous metals to measure the paint thickness and use paint to coat the rear object sensor until it reaches 6 mils maximum. First connect the electrical connector to the rear object sensor before inserting it into the housing which is followed by reinstalling the rear bumper fascia.
