GMC Terrain Power Steering Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Hose on GMC Terrain?
    A:
Placing drain pans in position below the vehicle is the first step before removing the intake manifold cover. Extract the complete amount of power steering fluid from the upper reservoir prior to removing the front bumper fascia. Edges of the power steering fluid cooling pipe needs disconnecting from both power steering gear and lower power steering fluid reservoir. Disassembly of the power steering fluid cooling pipe consists of removing the bolt from its bracket and detaching the cooling pipe clip from the bracket before disconnecting the bracket from the stud through the cooling pipe nut. Start by removing both power steering fluid cooling pipe bolts from the front bumper impact bar followed by disconnecting the three cooling pipe clips to take the cooling pipe off the vehicle. Installation requires you to position the cooling pipe within the vehicle before connecting its three clips. Use two bolts to attach the front bumper impact bar while torquing them to 9 nm (80 lb in). Fasten the cooling pipe bracket onto the stud through the nut before tightening it to 9 nm (80 lb in). Secure the clip onto the bracket and add the bolt to this bracket while tightening at 9 nm (80 lb in). Secure the cooling pipe by attaching it to the reservoir and power steering gear and tighten the fitting to 34 nm (25 lb ft). The mechanic should fill the power steering system before bleeding it out before removing drain pans to reinstall both front bumper fascia and intake manifold cover.
