The Saturn SC1 came out as one of the Saturn S-series models in 1993 through the Z-body platform specific to Saturn S-series construction yet integrating numerous GM vehicle components. The SC1 model maintained continuous horsepower output at 85 HP because its 1.9L SOHC LKO inline-four engine powered all its production years. When purchasing an SC1 model customers had two transmission options for optimal performance choices: the MP2 5-speed manual transmission and the 3-speed automatic transmission. Owners of the SOHC could select a transmission mode that maximized fuel economy instead of traditional performance options commonly available in the DOHC model. Lighting construction and quick driving behavior existed within Saturn SC1 yet the model did not receive the rear trunk lid reflector or rear stabilizer bar equipped in the SC2 version. The 1997 edition of SC1 received improvements to its aerodynamics together with increased interior space. A design and technological update for the SC1 front end and engine capabilities happened before its 2000 model release. The use of Saturn SC1 genuine automobile components allows owners to maintain their cars at factory specification levels for upholding original engineering performance criteria.
