    Q:
How to replace the wiper arm on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to power on accy from the Ignition Switch and set the Wiper Switch to delay or auto delay before workshop work begins. Disconnect the washer hose from the connector when the wiper arms sit still at their inner wiping position and you can shut the ignition. Use a permanent marker or tape to show where the Wiper Blade touches the windshield and lift the hood. Take off the nut shield first, then unscrew the nut and Wiper Arm from the same shaft as the drive. When rocking fails to release the Wiper Arm you must use the Wiper Arm puller tool (J 39822). Scrub the Drive Shaft knurling with wire brush before taking off the Wiper Blade from the arm when needed. Before adding the Wiper Arm place the Wiper Blade onto the Drive Shaft alignment. Put the Wiper Arm on the transmission Drive Shaft following the mark made earlier. Put the transmission Drive Shaft nut in place while letting the Wiper Arm move sometime before you tighten the nut to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Adjust the Wiper Arm position when the nut is loose and it slides away from the alignment mark. Put the washer hose onto the washer hose connector and add windshield washer solvent as a lubricant for easy installation. Perform multiple tests after installation: close the hood, use a cloth to erase position marks from the windshield, use wipers to see the expected movement, and make sure wipers safely park when switched off.
