First step for hid headlamp ballast (Philips) replacement requires disconnecting the battery negative cable because the high voltage and current operations pose a hazard of severe shocks and burns. The work starts with radiator grille removal before disconnecting the front Bumper assembly. Remove the starter cable retaining screws and headlamp ballast cover after which detach the retaining clip and starter cable from the ballast. The first step involves disconnecting the ballast from body wiring harness before removing the support bracket fasteners of the ballast and ballast subplate. Separate the ballast from the ballast subplate by removing its fasteners from the ballast section. First orient the ballast subplate with the ring placed toward the starter cable then mount the ballast to the subplate and tighten fasteners to 5 n.m (45 lb in). Embed the ballast onto the ballast support bracket through installation of the ballast support bracket fastener and tighten it to 8.5 n.m (75 lb in). The body wiring harness should be reconnected to the ballast followed by connecting the starter cable to the headlamp ballast which needs a proper retaining clip for tube arc energization. Install the retaining clip followed by the starter cable cover with screws that should be tightened to 0.7 n.m (6 lb in). Next replace the front Bumper assembly along with the radiator grille then reconnect the battery negative cable.

Start the hid headlamp ballast (Delphi) replacement process by disconnecting the battery negative cable since high voltage and current operate in this system. The first step starts with radiator grille removal and then moving onto front Bumper disconnection from the vehicle. Remove the starter cable fasteners then pull out the starter cable from the headlamp ballast position. Begin the replacement process by taking off the body wiring harness from the ballast followed by removal of the ballast and ballast subplate fastener from the support bracket and finally the ballast and ballast subplate from the ballast support bracket. Initiate the ballast subplate fastener removal process from the ballast before you detach the ballast from the ballast subplate. Place the ballast subplate with its ring positioned on the starter cable side before installing the ballast onto the subplate and fastening it securely with subplate fasteners which should be tightened to 5 n.m (45 lb in). The ballast support bracket fastener must be tightened to 8.5 n.m (75 lb in) after the installation of the ballast and ballast subplate onto the ballast support bracket. Secure the body wiring harness first and then connect the starter cable to the headlamp ballast before tightening its screws to 0.7 n.m (6 lb in). Newly install the radiator grille along with the front Bumper assembly then reconnect the battery negative cable.
