    Q:
How to replace the left rear parking brake cable on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to release the park brake before raising and supporting the vehicle when replacing a left rear park brake cable. You must lower the tension on park brake cables through nut loosening at the adjuster and disconnecting the equalizer cable. You must manipulate the locking tabs on the mounting bracket to obtain the cable while the shock absorber bracket requires removal of its bolt. After pressing the locking tabs on the backing plate you need to remove the cable followed by disconnecting it from the lever and leaving the cable last. The correct positioning of the new cable through guides and brackets must be completed before attaching it to the lever. Begin by securing the cable to both the backing plate until its locking tabs engage and finish by mounting it at the shock absorber bracket and tightening its bolt to 22 Nm (16 lb ft). To finish the installation secure the cable to its mounting hardware until the locking mechanism snaps and join the cable end to the equalizer then you can finally remove the safety props for easing the vehicle to the ground. The adjustment of the park brake cable ends the project.
