    Q:
How to replace the sunroof drive cable with a sunroof cable on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the sunroof drive cable replacement process by taking out the headlining trim finish panel. Two screws must be removed from both sides of the sunroof window before you can remove it. Start working on the sunroof housing after you extract its 2 screws and unscrew the sunroof air deflector. Take out the sunroof control module and sunroof actuator electrical connectors while making sure the motor stays put in the fully closed position. When loosening the 3 bolts and removing the sunroof actuator you should note that improper matching between the actuator and sunroof positions will lead to malfunctioning window operation. Stop the screw and cam plate cover from the sunroof actuator before rotating the actuator drive gear until the point marks line up. Secure one screw to attach the cam plate cover with the sunroof motor. Forget the 4 drain hose clamps on the sunroof housing before you extract all 4 drain hoses running out of the drain housing. To gain access remove two plastic retainers that secure both side rail roof panel insulators along with the 2 side rail roof panel insulators . Unplug the dome lamp harness from the sunroof housing dual hangers while you remove the 8 bolts, 4 brackets and 6 nuts and the sunroof housing as one piece. Access the screw which secures each stop and both sunroof sunshade stops and the sunroof sunshade. First remove the sunroof housing rear support from its housing slot while extracting both screws that connect sunroof guide blocks to the housing structure. Remove the six screws and sunroof housing front support along with the sunroof guide blocks from the sunroof housing . Slowly push each drive cable bracket forward while maintaining an active connection of the actuator cable through the sunroof housing guide rails. Each drive cable bracket must be fed rearward into the sunroof housing guide rails while ensuring the outer guide pins properly slot into the housing guide rail positions during installation. After installing the sunroof guide blocks to the housing you must attach the sunroof housing front support before completing securement through 6 screws. Secure sunroof guide blocks with 2 screws before inserting sunroof housing rear support into the sunroof housing system. Finally attach the sunroof sunshade to the sunroof housing by using 2 sunroof sunshade stops together with a screw for each stop. Position the sunroof housing on the vehicle then fix it using 6 nuts before installing the 4 brackets and using 8 bolts to secure the housing. Tighten all fasteners to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the dome lamp wiring harness to its respective hangers on the sunroof housing before attaching the 2 side rail roof panel insulators which need 2 plastic retainers for installation. Secure each of the sunroof housing drain hoses with a hose clamp before reinstalling them to the sunroof housing. Secure the sunroof actuator onto the roof panel through 3 bolts tightened to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) before connecting its electrical connectors with those from the sunroof control module. Secure two screws to fit the sunroof air deflector onto the sunroof housing before installing the sunroof window across the vehicle using screws on each side without complete tightening. Adjust the sunroof window as needed while putting the headlining trim finish panel back into place.
