Check the brake caliper housing for both cracks and excessive wear and damage. A missing brake caliper replacement becomes necessary when any of these specified conditions manifest themselves. Inspect the caliper piston dust boot seal for all signs of deterioration and improper placement in its caliper body seat. Also check for cracks and tears and unwanted opening along its edges. Any problems discovered with the brake caliper require either an overhaul or an immediate replacement. Check for fluid leaks at both the caliper piston dust boot seal and around the disc brake pads. Any sign of brake fluid leakage requires immediate attention which leads to a need for brake caliper replacement or overhaul. The caliper piston must move smoothly and completely through caliper bores. The caliper requires replacement or overhaul when its caliper piston demonstrates either frozen operation or difficult travel to the bottom position. To install a single piston caliper piston users should first place a Brake Pad discard or wooden block before it and then position a large c-clamp over the complete caliper assembly to reduce piston force. A discarded inner Brake Pad coupled with a block of wood placed in front of the pistons can achieve piston bore sealing during dual piston caliper procedures. Two large c-clamps placed over the caliper body against this pad combination assist equal piston insertion into the bores.

Ensure the dust boots are secured firmly in each caliper groove before finally installing the caliper back onto the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle and remove the tire and wheel assembly.

Inspect the mounting bolts, caliper pins, and dust boots for corrosion and wear, replacing any necessary parts.
