Clutch Assembly

To replace the compressor clutch assembly first, lift up and support the vehicle adequately. Thereafter, remove the Drive Belt before removing the clutch plate retaining bolt and the clutch plate assembly . Next, disposal of the clutch hub/bearing snap ring and the clutch hub/bearing assembly. Remove the clutch coil harness retainer and the snap ring from the clutch coil, then remove the clutch coil from the A/C Compressor. Mount the clutch coil to the A/C Compressor and fix using snap ring . Reinstall the clutch coil harness retainer, the clutch hub/bearing assembly and the clutch hub baring snap ring. Dip a tiny bit of oil on the least fat air gap shim and insert it between the clutch plate before putting on the clutch plate assembly. Make sure that during rotation no part of the drive plate drags on the pulley, and then measure the air gap between the pulley and the drive plate, by adjusting the shims to leave a 0.35-0.65 mm (0.014-0.026 in) air gap. Place the clutch plate retaining bolt and tighten to 18 n.m (13lb ft), remove the Drive Belt, from the vehicle.

A vehicle lift operation will be the initial step to begin replacing the air conditioning clutch assembly. The Drive Belt should come off first before you remove the clutch plate retaining bolt and the clutch plate assembly. Begin by removing the clutch hub/bearing snap ring followed by the clutch hub/bearing assembly. Following this step remove the clutch coil harness retainer. Begin the replacement process by dislodging the snap ring of the clutch coil and afterward extracting the clutch coil from the A/C Compressor. First install the clutch coil onto the A/C Compressor while securing it with snap ring . Repeat the following installation sequence: place the clutch hub/bearing assembly then fit the clutch hub/bearing snap ring. Install the clutch plate assembly avoiding drive plate drag against the pulley while rotating by adding small amounts of oil to the tightest air gap shim beforehand. Maintain a 0.35-0.65 mm (0.014-0.026 in) air gap between the pulley and drive plate by modifying the shim placement. After lowering the vehicle reinstall the Drive Belt then tighten the clutch plate retaining bolt to 18 nm (13 lb ft).

Add minimal oil to the slimmest air gap shim then place this shim between the clutch plate before installing the clutch plate assembly making sure the drive plate avoids pulley contact when rotating. Use shim adjustments to measure the pulley-drive plate air gap until it reaches 0.35-0.65 mm (0.014-0.026 in). Place the clutch plate retaining bolt then torque it to 18 nm (13 lb ft). After reattaching the Drive Belt lower your vehicle.

Finally tighten the clutch plate retaining bolt to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) before replacing the Drive Belt and engine protection shield and lowering the vehicle.
