Steering Column

Accidents leading to damages in the frame or extensive body or sheet metal destruction or impacts to the Steering Column might cause damage or misalignment to the Steering Column. Service of Steering Shaft and column components together since replacement of a defective shaft or column requires both unit replacement. The Steering Column needs replacement if the capsules show signs of looseness because they must be tightly secured to the column. The plate attached to the Steering Column must be checked for cracks while replacement of the entire column becomes necessary if any cracks appear. Steering Column replacement should be done when it measures below 528 mm (20.79 inch) in length. Check the Steering Shaft joints along with the Steering Shaft for cracks, breaks and malfunction or excessive play before replacing the Steering Column with any detected damage. Smooth operation of the Steering Shaft needs attention; a new Steering Column should be installed if the shaft shows signs of trouble. Steering Shaft examination should be conducted alongside inspection of the column for bends cracks and deformities and the column should get replaced when defects emerge. The sir supplemental inflatable restraint system also requires an inspection.
