    Q:
How to replace the A/C Condenser on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the condenser requires refrigerant recovery. Start by unlocking the hood latch support bracket but keep the right headlamp assembly (exclusive to L67 engine models) and upper Radiator seal also in place. First disconnect the compressor hose assembly bolt from the condenser before moving on to separate the compressor hose and evaporator tube from the same component. Reinstall the condenser hose bracket bolt on the Radiator while using the special length bolt to prevent damage to the Radiator end tank. First remove the mounting bolts between the condenser and Radiator before pulling the condenser out of the car. Install the condenser by applying the correct amount of refrigerant oil for filling while tightening the mounting bolts to 6 n.m torque setting (53 lb in). Install the condenser hose bracket first and bolt it down to 2.5 n.m (23 lb in) tension before tightening the evaporator tube and compressor hose bolt to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). After installation reinstall both the upper Radiator seal and the right headlamp assembly (only for vehicles with L67 engine) and the hood latch bracket assembly. During the last steps of the process you must recharge the a/c system then conduct testing for system leaks with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
