    Q:
How to replace the door lock cylinder on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
Rewiring of the sir side impact system becomes necessary before substituting the Door Lock Cylinder. The first step involves removing the front door trim panel together with the front door water deflector. To begin the front door outside handle and its lock rod need to be removed. Begin the Door Lock Cylinder replacement by taking out the c-clip along with the cam lever, spring from the lock barrel and thrust spring and clear plastic cap and Door Lock Cylinder roll pin. You should place the key into the cylinder lock and rotate it rightward to break free from its position on the plate. First untighten the lock cylinder from the cylinder housing by removing two ball bearings and two roller cylinder thrust caps. To install the lock cylinder return it to the cylinder housing while placing both ball bearings and two roller cylinder thrust caps in their appropriate positions. Use a leftward turn of the lock cylinder to fasten it to the lock plate while key removal occurs. After placing the Door Lock Cylinder roll pin inside the assembly position both the clear plastic cap and thrust spring followed by the cam lever and c-clip. After installing the front door outside handle users should replace the front door water deflector followed by the front door trim panel. Our vehicle has a sir side impact system which requires enabling at the end of the replacement process.
