    Q:
Is Burnishing the Brake Pads and Brake Disc Necessary After Servicing the Disc Brake System on GMC Safari? Posted by Customer
    A:
Every time the disc brake system finishes its service operation brake pads and brake discs need burnishing to ensure proper braking surface preparedness. This procedure occurs after disc brake disc refinishing or replacement or any time when disc brake pads receive replacement. Select a quiet road with no traffic while accelerating up to 48 km/h (30 mph) speed. Apply moderate to firm pressure on the brakes when stopping your vehicle without locking them until you reach a complete stop. Avoid overheating the brakes throughout this process. Perform the acceleration and braking action at least 20 times while allowing appropriate cooling phases between each stop to effectively become the brake pads and discs.
