Strut

The air inlet grille should be removed before starting the strut assembly replacement. Proceed with vehicle stabilizing before you take off the stabilizer link which connects to the front strut. Remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the front strut. During other suspension or steering component servicing maintain a line mark on the Steering Knuckle so you can restore proper alignment with the front strut. Lower the vehicle to gain access to the upper strut mounting bolts before you remove the bolts from the front strut and the nuts from both the front and upper mounting positions. The brake hoses will experience less tension when you use a jack stand under the Steering Knuckle before disconnecting the front strut from the Steering Knuckle for final front strut assembly removal from the vehicle. Install the front strut into its position in the strut tower before tightening the upper strut mounting nuts to 45 nm (33 lb ft) torque values. Repeat vehicle lifting to install a jack stand beneath the Steering Knuckle for reducing brake hose tension. Begin strut alignment with the scribe mark on the Steering Knuckle when possible before mounting the front strut onto the steerable knuckle and tightening mounting hardware to 195 nm (144 lb ft). Reposition the stabilizer link on the front strut and restore wheel speed sensor wiring connector together. Replace the front end air inlet grille while performing front end alignment.

A 45 TORX(R) socket.

Raise the vehicle again, aligning the front strut to the scribe mark on the steering knuckle if applicable.

The strut should be clamped in a vise horizontally with the rod fully extended.
