    Q:
How to replace the alternator (LE5) in a 2.4L Non Hybrid engine on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the generator (LE5) on a 2.4l non hybrid engine disengage the negative part of the Battery Cable. Next, remove the Drive Belt. Unplug the generator electrical connector, replay the rubber boot, pull out the engine harness terminal lead to generator nut. Next, remove the engine harness terminal from the generator stud and the generator fasteners in order to remove the generator. For installation, place the generator on the engine block and install the generator fasteners loosely. Put in the fastener and tighten to 10 nm (89 lb in), then another fastener and tighten to a 22 nm (16 lb ft). Must tighten the remaining fasteners to 22 nmt (16 lb ft), after which, one can hook on the engine harness terminal to the generator stud and tighten the engine harness terminal lead to generator nut with a tightening pressure 20 nmt (15 lb ft). Place the rubber boot over the stud, take generator electrical connector, fix Drive Belt, and lastly reattach the negative Battery Cable.

    Q:
How to replace the alternator (L61) on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by removing the negative Battery Cable before proceeding to remove the air cleaner resonator then Drive Belt followed by the radiator inlet hose. The generator wiring process starts by disconnecting the generator connector from the engine wiring harness while repositioning the lead rubber boot and removing both the terminal lead to generator nut and the terminal from the generator stud. The next step requires the generator bolts to be disconnected while extracting this component from the system. To set up the generator place it in position against the engine block then install and tighten the generator bolts up to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Secure the engine wiring harness terminal to the generator stud by tightening the engine wiring harness terminal lead to the generator nut to a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the radiator inlet hose along with the Drive Belt and air cleaner resonator after you reconnect the negative Battery Cable. Also, position the engine wiring harness lead rubber boot and join the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the generated stud.
