    Q:
How to replace the Parking Brake Shoe on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Parking Brake Shoe begins by lifting the vehicle and placing support under it. Then remove the tire and wheel as the next step. You must first reduce tension on all park brake cables by turning loose the adjuster nut before disengaging the brake actuator lever from the park brake cable. Start by taking out the rotor and use the adjustment screw to reach its maximum position within the notched adjustment nut. Then you should remove the backing plate shoe assembly through steps which include taking out the tips from slot positions and pushing the shoe towards the retaining spring until it disconnects. To remove the assembly from the vehicle pass the open shoe ends over the Axle Shaft. The installation begins by dusting away debris from park brake components using a clean shop cloth and aligning both the adjusting screw slots and tappet slots parallel to the backing plate. The park brake shoe assembly installation happens when the open ends are passed over the Axle Shaft. Place the tappet and actuator open ends outward before guiding the park brake shoe under the retaining spring. The shoe assembly must be checked for its correct position on the backing plate with both tips in the slots before adjusting the park brake shoe while reinstalling the rotor. After attaching the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever, reinstall the tire and wheel, take out the safety stands, let the vehicle down, before you finalize the park brake cable adjustment.

    Q:
How to replace the Parking Brake Shoe on GMC Safari? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle elevation followed by tire and wheel removal is necessary to replace the Parking Brake Shoe. Lifting the tension on park brake cables requires nut adjustment at the adjuster before disconnecting the brake cable from the actuator lever to extract the rotor. After positioning the adjustment screw at its fully home place within the notched adjustment nut you should take out the park brake shoe assembly from the backing plate by pulling the shoe against the retaining spring. Move the shoe assembly through the Axle Shaft by guiding the exposed shoe ends when removing it. Installation starts with cleaning both the adjusting screw and tappet through the backing plate face alignment and continuing with the park brake shoe assembly by passing the open ends over the Axle Shaft. After positioning the open ends on the actuator and tappet you should drop the park brake shoe beneath the retaining spring . Check that the shoe assembly sits correctly on the backing plate central position with its ends situated in the slots before making any necessary adjustments. After mounting the rotor put back the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever then install the tire combined with wheel. Complete the process by both removing the safety stands then enabling vehicle descent while performing any required park brake cable adjustments.
