    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by sliding the Drive Belt off from the Power Steering Pump while keeping it in place then position it on the engine compartment. Begin by removing maximum possible power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir before taking off the right side engine splash shield. You should install drain pans underneath the vehicle when necessary. First disengage the Power Steering Reservoir outlet hose clamp by compressing it while removing the outlet hose from the Power Steering Pump prior to disconnecting the power steering gear inlet hose from the pump. Unbolt the Power Steering Pump at its mounting points to extract it from the right wheelhouse area while carrying the Power Steering Pump pulley if required for this process. You should place the Power Steering Pump through the right wheelhouse region of the vehicle while you apply 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque to its bolts before installation. Proceed to connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump while applying a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). At this stage also compress the Power Steering Reservoir outlet hose clamp before attaching the outlet hose to the pump. The right side engine splash shield gets reinstalled before the vehicle gets cleaned using absorbent materials to remove surplus power steering fluid and the drain pans must be removed. Installation of the Drive Belt will complete the process while power steering system filling and bleeding procedures are required.
