    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump (LY7) on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for Power Steering Pump (LY7) starts with the placement of a drain pan underneath your vehicle together with the removal of the Drive Belt. The right turn of the steering wheel should be followed by raising and supporting the vehicle. Start by detaching the right front wheel and tire from the vehicle then disconnect the power steering inlet and pressure hoses located on the pump. After uninstalling the Power Steering Pump mounting bolts you should remove the component from the engine before capping all fittings and hoses to stop contamination. After removing the Power Steering Pump pulley you must install the new pulley before proceeding to remove protective caps from fittings and hoses. Stage the Power Steering Pump correctly on the engine block before loosely installing the mounting bolts. Secure the mounting bolt with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque and the rear mounting bolt at this same specification. Clean the power steering pressure hose thoroughly then put in a new seal before setting the hose to the pump and securing it at 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Proceed by fitting the power steering reservoir outlet hose while placing back the right front tire and wheel. After lowering the vehicle install the Drive Belt. Finish by removing the drain pan then you should bleed the power steering system followed by leak inspections.
