    Q:
How to Replace Front Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle support and lift are necessary before starting the replacement of shock absorber parts and their components. Start by removing the wheel along with the tire from the vehicle before extracting its shock module. Introduce the shock module into the spring compressor while marking the upper Control Arm assembly and insulator for accurate installation during which the shock absorber must have a free movement. Begin by compressing the coil spring using the spring compressor forcing screw and then remove the shock absorber from the shock module after you have removed both the magnaride sensor nut and the shock absorber upper retaining nut. The compressor forcing screw needs adjustment for the upper mounting plate and coil spring removal before removing the upper Control Arm Bracket assembly and insulator and coil spring from the spring compressor. The upper Control Arm Bracket alignment pins should be oriented at 90 degrees when inserting the shock absorber into its bottom mounting holes. The spring compressor requires the shock absorber together with insulator, upper Control Arm Bracket assembly and coil spring which need to be aligned using the forcing screw to compress the coil spring once more. Apply 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque to the shock absorber retaining nut after which the magnaride sensor nut requires 20 nm (15 lb ft) torque. Take the shock module away from the spring compressor before reattaching it to the car. Put back the tire along with the wheel then lower the vehicle down.
