    Q:
How to service and repair the coil springs and shock absorber on Chevrolet Traverse? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service along with repair of coil springs begins when technicians remove the strut from the vehicle. Place the strut into the j 45400 tool with compression applied to allow spring movement. Wedge the j 42991 between the socket wrench and strut shaft while rotating the j 42991's forcing screw to compress the coil spring. Afterward serve the upper strut mount nut with the j 42991 tool. The compressor forcing screw needs loosening on the j 45400 while removing the strut to detach the upper strut mount and coil spring. Position the upper strut mount and coil spring into j 45400 then press the coil spring with forcing screw rotation before mounting the strut onto the assembly. Secure the strut retaining nut with light torque but maintain control of the strut shaft using a socket to tighten the upper strut mount nut with tool j 42991 until it reaches 85 nm (63 lb ft). After removing the strut from the j 45400 tool install it into the vehicle.
