    Q:
How to replace the front shock absorber on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by elevating the vehicle and placing jack stands under the front suspension crossmember before slowly lowering the vehicle to rest on the crossmember instead of resting on control arms. Start by removing the tire-wheel assembly followed by disconnection of wheel speed sensors when vehicle uses abs and subsequent removal of abs Wheel Speed Sensor bolts from the strut. Proceed by removing the bolt from the flexible hose-connecting to the strut assembly and then lightly loosen the nuts on the strut assembly's lower side without removing bolts and place the vehicle at a lowered position. First remove the three strut assembly mounting nuts from the strut tower before proceeding with the removal of two bolts and two nuts from the lower side of the strut assembly to extract the strut assembly. Before assembly, apply engine oil to the threads of the two lower nuts and insert the two bolts and two nuts loosely but secure the strut assembly to the strut tower by torquing the three mounting nuts to 39 nm (29 ft. Lbs.). Repeat the vehicle lift to access the lower bolts and nuts on the strut assembly. Torque them down to 274 nm (203 ft. Lbs.). One should attach the abs Wheel Speed Sensor connector after securing the abs speed sensor by tightening its bolt to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). The tire and wheel assembly needs to be reinstalled followed by moderate lift of the vehicle so the jack stands can be removed during the vehicle's descent.
