    Q:
How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before commencing intermediate Steering Shaft replacement start by mounting the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) on the Steering Column while the column maintains lock position. Turn off the ignition and position the wheel directly forward before lifting and supporting the vehicle's stance. Access the intermediate shaft lower bolt by pushing the left front wheel off the car then pushing the intermediate shaft lower seal upward into the intermediate shaft upper seal. Push the intermediate Steering Shaft upward once you remove its lower pinch bolt to disengage from the steering gear . Lower down your vehicle before removing the left closeout panel. The intermediate Steering Shaft seal down can be pulled off the Steering Column so workers can access the intermediate Steering Shaft upper bolt before removing the intermediate shaft to Steering Column pinch bolt allowing the intermediate shaft to disconnect from its position on the Steering Column. Steer the intermediate Steering Shaft through the inside compartment of the vehicle. Begin installation by sliding the intermediate Steering Shaft through its corresponding seal on the Steering Column and fasten into position while securing the upper pinch bolt. Secure the intermediate Steering Shaft upper bolt with 48 nm torque (35 ft. Lbs.) before connecting it to the steering gear and using a torque wrench to fasten the lower pinch bolt at 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Next place the intermediate Steering Shaft seal in position relative to the steering gear before attaching the left front wheel and tire and placing the vehicle back on the ground.
