    Q:
How to replace the steering wheel on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
The sir system needs disabling and ignition power needs to be turned off before you begin Steering Wheel replacement. First remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before scribing a mark on the Steering Wheel hub which should match the Steering Shaft's slash mark. Begin by loosening the Steering Wheel nut until it sits level with the end where the Steering Shaft ends. The combination of Steering Wheel puller (J 1859- A) with Steering Wheel puller legs (J 42578) will be used to detach the Steering Wheel from its position on the Steering Shaft. You should first remove the puller device and then move on to remove the Steering Shaft nut and Steering Wheel components before extracting the sir connector from the wheel. To install the sir connector first route it through the Steering Wheel then align the scribe mark with the slash mark on the Steering Shaft before putting in the Steering Wheel. Tighten the Steering Shaft nut to 45 n.m (33 lb ft) before you install the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and enable the sir system. The last inspection will check the operation of horn functions together with Steering Wheel controls and the Steering Wheel itself.
