    Q:
How to replace the Brake Proportioning Valve on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you handle the proportioning valve replacement make sure to follow instructions about brake fluid hazards during the process. Make simple marks and labels with tape on the brake pipes ahead of installation. Open the proportioning valve by removing its 2 brake pipes then seal them with bleeder valve caps as a protective measure. After disconnecting the 4 brake pipes from the proportioning valve you should use caps to seal their ends. Remove the two nuts holding the bracket and withdraw the proportioning valve assembly from the vehicle. Set the proportioning valve assembly into position and fasten it with the two bracket nuts at a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). Hook up brake lines with the brake pressure modulator valve properly to stop wheel lock after confirming for wheel runout using Scan Tool or Antilock stops. Remove the tape marker for brake pipe locations before installing fitting caps to connect the 4 brake pipes with the proportioning valve and tighten each fitting to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). After setting the 2 bleeding pipes you must attach them to the proportioning valve and fasten them securely at 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Next bleed the brake system through the Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual), (Pressure).

    Q:
How to Properly Replace a Brake Proportioning Valve on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the proportioning valve, the first thing one must do is take off the 2 brake pipes out of the valve while using the bleeder valve cover to prevent breaks from draining out and protect it from contamination; label and mark of the brake pipes to facilitate the installation. After that, just remove the 4 brake pipes from the valve, using caps again to avoid losing any fluid. Take off the 2 proportioning valve bracket nuts and extract the proportioning valve assembly. For installation, replace the proportioning valve assembly with the back and use the 2 bracket nuts to tighten them up to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs). After plucking out the tape marking the positions of the braking pipes, make sure you have connected the braking pipe to the braking pressure modulator valve to prevent wear lockup as the only method to detect the wear lockup is through a Scan Tool or through a braking applied stop. Subsequently, remove the caps from 4 brake pipes and attach them to the proportioning valve tightening the fittings up to 20 Nm (15ft. lbs). Lastly, take off the caps of the 2 brake pipes and attach them to the proportioning valve and tighten them also to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.,) and bleed the brake system.
