Pressure Metering Valve

Before replacing it, take note of the code marked on the old valve for the right replacement. Start by taking out the combination valve's electrical connector, proceed with removing the front brake lines and then continue with the rear brake lines. In the next step, take out the three alien bolts (11) securing the combination valve (12) to the bpmv and get rid of the combination valve (12) and the two transfer tubes (13). Be certain that transfer lines (13) are new when you replace the combination valve and that the replacement code punched into the part is the same as the one in the old combination valve. Attach the two transfer tubes (13) to the combination valve until they are seated, after which you should put the combination valve (12) onto the bpmv. Install the three combination valve bolts (11) and tighten them at first only to 8 nm (6 ft. Lbs.), then to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Cover the front and rear brake pipes with the combination valve, tighten each of the brake pipe fittings to 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and then connect the combination valve to the electrical connector. A final step is to ensure the combination valve metering rod is pushed in as you start bleeding and then proceed with the brake bleeding.

Take note of the identification code on the valve to find a suitable replacement. Raise the vehicle on jack stands before supporting it. Disconnect the shield retaining bolts before removing the shield. Detach the 2-way electric plug from the combination valve and disconnect both brake lines from the valve. Use allen tools to undo the combination valve attachment points to the bpmv and lift out the combination valve. Set the new transfer tubes in place within the valve before connecting the combo valve to the bpmv unit. Again position the combination valve against the bpmv after installing the allen bolts at 8 nm first and 16 nm next to finish the connection. Install the brake pipes into the combination valve with finger-tip force of 30 nm before reuniting the electrical system. Fit the shield back in place and secure it using bolts while tightening them to 12 nm (8 ft. Lbs.). After bleeding you must keep the metering rod of the combination valve pressed down. Then perform the standard brake hydraulic bleeding steps.

First remove the retaining bolts from the shield before removing the shield from the vehicle. Attach the combination valve by disconnecting both the 2-way electrical connector alongside brake pipes front and rear. Disconnect the allen bolts from the bpmv to combination valve connection and then remove the combination valve. The new transfer tubes should be completely seated within the valve before you install it to the bpmv. Mount the allen bolts to anchor the combination valve while using an 8 nm torque setting (6 ft. Lbs.) before moving to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Apply torque of 8 nm to the first stage (6 ft. Lbs.) and increase it to 16 nm for the second stage (12 ft. Lbs.). Connect front and rear brake pipes to combination valve through fittings while applying 30 nm of torque force (22 ft. Lbs.).drill new transfer tubes into the valve before you reattach this to the bpmv. Complete the reconnection of the 2-way electrical connector. Attach the shield to its location by screwing in the retaining bolts until they reach a torque of 12 nm (8 ft. Lbs.). Begin brake hydraulic system bleeding after you depress the metering rod of the combination valve and proceed with the bleeding process.

Service operations on the brake proportioning/combination valve start by writing down the valve identification code for purchasing a replacement. Place the vehicle on safety stands while using a jack for lift support. First detach the retaining bolts from the shield and then remove the shield. First disconnect both the 2-way electrical connector and front and rear brake pipes from the combination valve. The service starts with removing allen bolts which fasten the combination valve to the bpmv then removing the combination valve from the bpmv. Screw the new transfer tubes into the valve while making sure they fit properly before you attach the combination valve to the bpmv. Secure the combination valve to the bpmv using allen bolts by first tightening to 8 nm (6 ft. Lbs.) then securing again to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). After initial tightening to 8 nm (6 ft. Lbs.) install the second torque to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the fittings on the combination valve while connecting its brake pipes to the front and rear by using a torque wrench set to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.)after completing the necessary tightening procedures the 2-way electrical connector needs to get reinstalled. Put back the shield and fix it using retaining bolts before tightening them to 12 nm (8 ft. Lbs.). Begin bleeding the brake hydraulic system after assuring the metering rod of the combination valve remains depressed. Completion of the combination valve circuit marks the last stage of this procedure.
