2000 Buick Park Avenue Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair a shock absorber on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: A technician should begin Shock Absorber servicing and repair work by raising and supporting the vehicle. The repair process starts with removing the tire and wheel assembly before holding the Control Arm with a jack stand. The shock service begins with removing the elc air tube from the shock after which technicians remove the two bolts that hold the shock to the Control Arm. Service or repair the shock upper mounting nuts through trunk trim removal which enables access to the cover then the two nuts and reinforcement at the shock top. After removing all components you can access the shock through the vehicle opening. To perform the installation you will first place the shock along with its reinforcement and two nuts in position then tighten the mounting nuts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). The installation process requires a sequence of placing the shock cover and trunk trim after its completion. Reinstall the shock-to-Control Arm bolts at a torque value of 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) while also reconnecting the elc air tube to the shock element. Reinstall the tire along with its wheel and tighten the wheel nuts to 140 nm (100 ft. Lbs.) while lowering the vehicle.
