2000 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the transmission pan on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Settling the vehicle to the proper height is the first step when repairing or servicing the fluid pan. The technician should place a drain pan at the base of the transaxle Oil Pan. While removing Oil Pan bolts users should exercise caution to preserve the Oil Pan surfaces which leads to oil leakage. Loosen only the front and side Oil Pan bolts before proceeding to the rear bolts where you should tighten them only 4 turns. Strike the Oil Pan gently with a rubber mallet or pry device to empty the fluid which allows you to inspect its color. Use a drain pan to collect waste oil before you uninstall the Oil Pan along with its gasket. Oil Pan gaskets are reusable except when either part of the sealing surface shows damage. The Oil Pan and gasket installation should happen at once before tightening all the Oil Pan bolts to 14 nm (10 ft. Lbs.). Use dexron iii fluid or an equivalent to fill the transaxle up to its proper mark. Measure the cold fluid level during initial filling while monitoring to avoid overfilling and execute Oil Pan Gasket leak inspection.
