2000 Cadillac Catera Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What tools are required to service and repair the front wheel bearing and hub on 2000 Cadillac Catera?
A: The necessary tool for servicing the front Wheel Bearing and hub is a torque/angle meter (J36660-A). First lift the vehicle on stands followed by disconnecting the front wheel. Unclip this brake edge wire from the strut bracket and disconnect the brake hose from the bracket by pulling the clip away. Unfasten all brake caliper bolts from the Steering Knuckle and take off the brake caliper unit maintaining a secure brake system while supporting the unit to shield the flex hose. Take off the Brake Disc rotor set screw first. Following it with the Brake Disc rotor removal. Then extract the dust cap from Wheel Hub before removing the Wheel Hub and bearing. Pull the Wheel Hub and bearing over the Spindle and push the bearing outer ring into Wheel Hub using an appropriate socket if needed. Secure the Wheel Hub nut to 320 nm force (236 ft. Lbs.) before adding the dust cap to its base. Fasten the Brake Disc rotor through the Brake Disc rotor set screw while tightening it to 4 nm (35 inch lbs.). Check if both bearings run freely and generate noise before you wipe out the older locking compound from the bolt holes preparing the m12 x 1.5 tap. New brake caliper assembly bolts need to attach to the Steering Knuckle with locking compound p/n 12345493 goodwrench 272 threadlocker or a similar product. Fit the brake caliper on the Steering Knuckle and torque bolts to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.) along with 37-degree angle. Fasten the brake hose through its slot on the strut bracket with its holder. Then link the brake pad wear sensor wire to the strut piece before fixing the front wheel parts beneath the vehicle.
