Q: How to remove and install the intake manifold on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?
A: To take off the Intake Manifold, first, you have to take off 2 nuts from the Intake Manifold sight shield, then you remove the sight shield from the engine. Remove the coil module connectors from the coil modules in the camshaft covers , the PCV Valve from the camshaft cover , the tubes for fresh pcv air from the camshaft cover. Then remove the fuel regulator vacuum tube from its mounting, the vacuum tubes from the air solenoid, and the fuel inlet and return quick-connect fittings, at the Fuel Rail. Subsequently, loosen the Fuel Rail bracket retaining nut at the rear lift bracket and subsequently, take the two pushnuts off securing the engine coolant heater wire, set it aside if fitted. Gently locate the generator coolant pipe/surge tank pipe away from Fuel Rail studs, disconnect the eight electrical connectors from the fuel injectors, removed the four bolts that hold the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold. Raising the entire Fuel Rail and injector assembly from the Intake Manifold, remove the plenum duct clamp at the rear of the Intake Manifold, and the ten bolts to which the Intake Manifold is attached to the cylinder heads. Take out the Intake Manifold by using upward lifting motion on the front of manifold assembly and clean/inspected it. For installation, lubricate the rubber plenum duct's interior edge lightly, clean debris on the cylinder head or Intake Manifold, and fit new gaskets to the Intake Manifold. Make sure the PCV Valve hose is securely attached to the fitting at the front end of the Intake Manifold before installing it in place by aligning the rear of the Intake Manifold into the plenum duct a and then to install the front onto the cylinder heads. Loosely fit the 10 bolts holding the Intake Manifold onto the cylinder heads, and then tighten in sequence to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Make sure the plenum duct is well attached at the back of the Intake Manifold and tighten the plenum duct clamp to 2.25 nm (20 inch lbs). Do not try to force the injectors into place so that they do not break the o-ring seals, and then you should be able to press the entire Fuel Rail and injector assembly into the Intake Manifold simultaneously into the proper place. Replace the four bolts that connect the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold and tighten them up to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Install the eight electrical connectors to the eight fuel injectors , place the generator coolant pipe/surge tank pipe on the Fuel Rail studs, and place the engine coolant heater wire onto the Fuel Rail studs if equipped. Install the two pushnuts, the Fuel Rail bracket retaining nut to the rear lift bracket and tighten it up, to 4 nm [ 35 inch lbs.]. Install the quick connect fittings into the Fuel Rail, connect the vacuum tubes to the air solenoid, fuel regulator vacuum tube, pcv fresh air tube to the camshaft cover, pcv valve to camshaft cover, and coil module connectors to the coil modules, in the camshaft covers. Check for fuel leak by turning the ignition switch to on for 2 seconds and off for 10 seconds, and then turning it back to on. Finally, position the Intake Manifold sight shield to the engine and install the two Intake Manifold sight shield nuts , tightening the nuts to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.).
