How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?

Draining the cooling system must be the first step before starting any repair or service work on the coolant reservoir. Using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers eliminate surge tank hose clamps before unhooking the hoses from the surge tank. Start the surge tank servicing by eliminating both tank nuts before extracting the surge tank itself. When installing the lower surge tank nut make sure the lower stud properly rests in the lower bottle slot. Fix the two upper surge tank nuts with 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. Hose clamps should be installed onto the surge tank before reconnecting and fastening the hoses. Fill the cooling system with GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL(R) or HAVOLINE(R) DEX-COOL(R) coolant but changing to alternative types will require an earlier coolant replacement at either 50,000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.
