2000 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Flywheel on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Start Flywheel servicing by taking out both the Transmission Assembly and the clutch together with the Pressure Plate on vehicles equipped with manual transmissions. An inspection of the ring gear requires Flywheel replacement when the component exhibits signs of damage or shows cracks or excessive wear. The service necessitates inspection of Clutch Disc contact surfaces where you should replace the Flywheel in case of damage or extreme wear. The j8001 dial indicator set (J8001) with j26900-13 magnetic base (J26900-13) should be used to check Flywheel face runout. Replace the Flywheel when the measurement exceeds 0.2 mm (0.0078 inch). Lock the Flywheel into position by using the j35271 Flywheel holder (J35271) while marking its original engine position before removing the 8 retaining bolts of the Flywheel. Take the Flywheel off the Crankshaft for inspection of the clutch pilot bushing while replacing it when needed. Use a suitable solvent to clean all steel surfaces on the Flywheel outer parts. Insert the Flywheel onto the Crankshaft by aligning its engine position marks while applying gm p/n 12345493 or equivalent to the bolt threads before installing the Flywheel onto the Crankshaft area without excess sealant usage. The installation of the Crankshaft retaining bolts requires the j35271 tool to lock the Flywheel before torquing all 8 bolts to 70 nm (51 ft. Lbs.). You must install the Pressure Plate together with the clutch before reading your existing transmission on vehicles that have manual transmissions.
