2000 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Throttle Cable on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Before working on the Throttle Cable/linkage start by removing the negative Battery Cable as well as loosening the Throttle Cable locknut together with its adjusting nut. The Throttle Cable must be disconnected from its linkage on the throttle body before its casing can be removed from the bracket. Start by supporting the vehicle while removing one transmission bolt together with its retaining bracket. Last step is to remove the front propeller shaft. You should remove the transmission range switch and the transmission fluid pan including their matching bolts and gasket. Before installation of the Throttle Cable case you must separate the Valve Body from the Transmission Assembly. Check the Throttle Cable for damage by inspecting its length and verify the Throttle Cable o-ring condition. Substitute any components if necessary. The installation process requires connecting the Throttle Cable to the transmission and its corresponding point on the Throttle Cable cam when installing the Valve Body. Reinstall the transmission range switch together with the transmission fluid pan by adding the gasket. The front differential pinion flange yoke must be secured with 4 bolts and nuts after aligning its index (reference marks) on the pinion flange surface. Tighten propeller shaft bolts and nuts to 50 nm (37 inch lbs.). Lower the vehicle while you place the Throttle Cable casing into the Throttle Cable bracket at the throttle body and connect the cable to the throttle body linkage before you re-establish the negative Battery Cable then adjust the Throttle Cable.
